Teaching Principles- My goal as a coach is to help each student reach their potential. I believe that with a good grip, stance, posture and balance everyone can be successful and have fun with the game of golf. Each golfer has different physical abilities and skills set that make their swings special to them. Together we will find what works for the student and give them drills and form a plan to help them have more fun. My philosophy maintains a "keep it simple" approach. I am not a golf pro, I taught myself, but have taken lessons over time to improve.
If your son has never played, a golf lesson from a local pro could be a good start. Their fee is usually around $30-$50.
My role will then be to develop further skills they have learned. There is not a one fix works for everyone. I will offer several suggestions they can work on to improve.
Personally I started when I was in 8th grade. I did so poorly I knew I could not be that bad and was back at it the very next day. I had enjoyed baseball, basketball, and football, but always found myself with less playing time than I thought I deserved. Golf was a sport that no one could tell me how good I was, the scores spoke for themselves.
In one summer, I took my game from 70's for 9 holes to the mid to high 40's. In another year, I was shooting mid to high thirties. It is possible, but you have to want it.
